Hugo Pratt

Hugo Pratt (1927 - 1995) was active/lived in Italy.  Hugo Pratt is known for Drawing, painting, comics.

Hugo Pratt was born into a family with Venetian, French, British and Armenian roots.  After moving into the fascist protectorate Abyssinia and detention of Haile Selassie during takeover of 1941 the family returned to Italy.  In a roundabout way via Germany and Austria Hugo Pratt arrived in 1945 to Venice, where he began studying art and together with Mario and Alberto Ongaro Faustinelli his first comic magazine, the "Asso di Picche", was brought into being.

In 1949, taken from an Argentinean publisher under contract, Hugo Pratt moved to Buenos Aires and recorded mainly adventure series like "Sergente Kirk" and "Junglemen" in which "Pratt-style" emerged.  His creations were then reprinted in the London Daily Press and in the Argentine magazine Misterix, and by Pratt, moved to Italy in the Corriere della Sera.
